W-Brand Hoof Square
Use of the Hoof Square:
a. as an aid in trimming, the Hoof Square will quickly reveal if the foot you are trimming is symmetrical
b. as an aid in shoe placement, the Hoof Square will tell you if your shoe should include more posterior, medial or lateral support, as well as best nail hole location
c. for checking shod feet for shoe rotation and balance
The hoof square is a transparent plastic grid with lines laminated into it. With the foot up and in the trimming position, simply lay the Hoof Square, on the ground surface of the foot, with the center line of the Hoof Square going down the center of the foot from toe to heel. Additional lines on the grid will indicate if the sides of the hoof are equal and if the heels are the same length.
